Biography
WHO AM I?
Height - 5' 11"
Weight - 198 lbs
Age - 25
Sign - Sagittarius
Education - Bachelor's degree from LSU in physical geography with concentration in GIS and Remote Sensing. Currently seeking graduate degree in the environmental sciences..
Current GPA - 4.0
Political affiliation - None. Democracy? How can this be when we only have 2 choices? I have been forced since reaching legal voting age to lend support to the least offensive candidate which often times throws me into pondering the legitimacy of this institution.
Religion - My spiritual beliefs are pagan. Elements in the natural world are essential for our survival physically and emotionally. The elements that give us life are soil, water and air, without any of the 3 you cease to exist. So it only makes sense to pay respect to them.
Dream - To be alive long enough to atleast begin to witness and perhaps even having influence in changing global behavior towards more sustainable living and a less selfish lifestyle ( a lifestyle that thinks only of its generation and not the next , plus a belief that 1 species has to the universal right and privilege to destroy the habitat of all others).
Most interesting movie (s) - American Psycho, Fight Club, American Beauty
Favorite Movie (s) - Gladiator, Planet of the Apes( original, of course) it is a great story if you understand the context of the era the movie was made. Deliverance - Modern man gets what he gives.
Movies that were a waste of money - hmm, 99% of all mainstream cinema today, in response, of course, to a less refined, instant gratification seeking audience. Hollywood must "Entertain the Brutes"
Favorite Book - Killer Angels, by Micheal Shaaron. This book gives a personal perspective on the battle of Gettysburg. Earth to Spirit by David Pearson. This book brillantly inspires the soul to build dwellings that nourish the spirit and brings us back to an intimate relationship with nature.
Favorite Authors - Edgar Allen Poe, Exploring the mind of an alcoholic, incestual manic depressive is always an experience. Jim Kunstler - He provides an accurate portrayal of the reality that is urban growth and suburbia and what cultural wastelands they have created. Jim Hanson - Writes numerous essays that reveal the truth behind our lethal over reliance on fossil fuels and that this means could lead to our civilizations end.
Music - Depends on mood:
Enya, Robert Mirabol, Pagean drums, Poe, the painfully beautiful Fiona A,Pearl Jam,
Type O Negative, Slipknot, Godsmack, Ella Fitzgerald
and everything in-between.
Most enjoyable album - Enya's first mainstream release, Watermark.
Perfect Woman - A Lady who remembers the importance of traditional institutions such as motherhood, partnerships and ethics and how they apply in life. A woman who can live outside of the mainstream and understands the powerful connection the female spirit should have with nature.
Where will I be in 10 years?
Career - I will have a career but not in the modern sense. My lifes work will revolve around environmental awareness, education, remediation and perpetually nourishing my union with nature.
Location - In a cozy chateau separated from the savage reaches of mankind.
Status - Potentially married, assuming I can find a woman who also seeks comfort in nature and not material accumulation.
Children - Perhaps, if yes, my children will be raised traditionally, given every opportunity to grow within nature, always exploring and discovering the wonders of life. Never will I allow the influences of pop culture to poison my offspring
More about me............
I am a 25 year old graduate of LSU. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I currently reside in Lafayette, but that is only until I attain my masters degree,or decide as I am currently pondering, to end my efforts here to raise awarenss and actually begin the evolution. The evolution begins when those enlightened few actually step outside the realm of the economic infrastructure. We understand that spiritual, emotional, physical, moral and environmental heatlh are of greater importance to material accumulation. We live our lives persuing spiritual enlightenment by nourishing relationships with nature, family and ourselves. This is the next evolution of mankind and it is a return to a lifestyle abandoned when man decided he had the right to rule dominion over nature rather be humbled by its majasity.
As far as my personality, I'm a Sagittarius and true to my sign in every respect. Click HERE to learn about the Sagittarius. I have strong convictions gained by a clear vision of reality that is not blurred or distorted by the comforts of our modern lifestyle, in other words, I realize that just because retailers such as the Gap and Walmart today provide me with everything I need to perpetuate my relatively gluttonous, secure, comfortable and lavish lifestyle, I understand that this way of life I live is not sustainable, horribly impractical which must and will within my lifetime change dramatically. I am not a conformer to any mainstream religion, but I do believe in the essence of spirituality. A spirituality birthed from our ubiquitous relationship with our premiere mother, earth. To learn more on my views regarding this topic ( and others) click HERE. I have several passions which have and will continue to determine which paths I choose in life, they include:
-Travel
-Conservation and preservation of what remains of our natural environments
-Sojourning
- Appreciation of Mother Earth
-Health and fitness
Where am I from?
I was born on a cold, wintery morning in Portland, Maine. I was raised in a small rural town called Standish which is about 15 miles outside of Portland. Although I was raised in Maine, only half of my ancestry originates from the northeast. My mother and her family are Polish and Italian and settled in southern Maine. My father and his family descended from the New Roads area in Louisiana. My lineage there is Cherokee and French. I, like most citizens, represent the cultural mix that is American. I take a particular interest and pride in my unique blend of Yankee and Cajun heritage.
Where do I live?
I live in a very old rural acadiana home. I am currently eco-renovating the home using all evironmentally friendly methods and materials. The mission of the home when it is complete will be to show rural folks how to live more sustainably. The home will be open for public tours in summer 2002. The perimeter of the home will feature permiculture concepts and include small scale organic farming providing fresh, pure fruit, vegetables and nuts to the residents and eventually as the project expands, the community. This is important because as soon as the price of oil makes the idea of global trade unfeasable communites will once again have to learn how to produce their own crops becasue shipments from all over the country and world will cease to be at our disposal at the local super walmart. Also, we must ask ourselves how practical is the current system? Should a communities farms grow and then ship its crop thousands of miles around the world, so then the refined product can be bought at the local store at up 10x the orginal price of the fruit or veggie, or more common, have the local farmer ship his lettuce crop to South America while you purchase lettuce in the same community shipped in from Mexico? How about communities grow thier own food, organically, and if refining is needed build local refineries and employ local people. This ensures that the product is pure, chemical-free, healthy for people and the natural environment and supports local farmers.
Where Have I Been?
I have been to nearly half of the states, Canada and Australia.
WHAT DO I ENJOY DOING?
Hobbies include:
Climbing, hiking, skiing and spending as much time as possible at the ocean and in the mountains. We all share a connection to nature and should explore this instinctual craving to be swallowed within it. Perhaps it may humble those in need of humbling.
I really enjoy exploring and finding abandoned structures, rocks, minerals, fossils, graveyards and other unique things. I have recently been teaching myself the know-hows of organic farming and must say this is one of the most rewarding hobbies a person can have.
People watching -
Since the world is full of unnecessary people it is amusing to see what they do with themselves. Now that we have completely separated ourselves from our natural habitats and replaced them with artificial landscapes and urban jungles I have a front row seat everyday watching the consequences unfold. There are few things more interesting than witnessing how people try to fill the chasms that haunt them. People in modern society are empty, their lives only have meaning in the context of our artificial environments. People are angry, lost, stressed and show very little enthusiasm for life. It is all because we have lost our sense of connection with nature. Not only have we lost our connection with nature, we consistently and systematically destroy it (it = the living organism that is earth and nature).
Perhaps my favorite interest lies in bodybuilding. I began working out and eating healthy in May of 1998. At the time I weighed only 150 lbs. However, just over three years later I now weigh in at a solid 198.

I enjoy all competitive sports but must lend favoritism to baseball and football.
I am passionately interested in world history and firmly believe the reason why every generation in America has seen a major war is due to a profound absence of knowledge regarding the events that affords us the lifestyle we all take for granted today. Every generation must be taught by the previous as to the individual and universal atrocities that war reaps. We have a tendency to want to forget and that is more dangerous than war itself. When we forget the horror of war we are less diplomatic in our efforts to avoid it.
I don't like salesmen...
Salesmen are the henchmen of the system, they are marketers. They will make you believe your whims are your wants and your wants are your needs. Salesmen perpetuate the modern institution of slavery known as capitalism.
However, I do love animals
Here is Henrietta the sunshine cat
I enjoy building period and folk art pieces -
Here are two of my projects, a chest of draws and small table.
Q & A
Who are your most interesting , admired or despised leaders? -
Winston Churchill - I admire Mr. Churchill's mastery of the long lost skill of articulation and public oration.
Joshua Chamberlain - If I were alive in the civil war era I would lend my support and politics to the Confederacy, However I firmly admire Mr. Chamberlain. He and his younger brother led a regiment known as the 20th Maine, a unit comprised of only a few hundred men. During the battle of Gettysburg, the 20th Maine guarded the left wing of the Union Army on a hill known as Little Round Top. General Longstreet ordered an assault on that "weak" left flank on the second day of the battle. The Confederates charged up the steep, thickly vegetated slopes of Little Round Top with several regiments of seasoned Alabamians and were repulsed numerous times. The 20th Maine had held its ground taking severe casualties and using nearly all of their ammunition. Mr. Chamberlain, knowing he was outnumbered and outgunned shouted an order of "bayonet!", and with that the 20th Maine with Mr. Chamberlain leading the way, charged at the confused enemy sending them into a panicked retreat. The 20th Maine took scores of prisoners and guarded them with weapons they had no ammunition for (the captured confederates were shocked to hear this later). Had the 20th Maine not held that position, the Confederate army would have easily rolled up the left flank of the Union army and ensured a decisive victory for the South and the road to Washington DC would have been wide open.
Cleopatra - The story of this woman reads like fiction. How one woman seduced two of the world's most powerful men, lead to the downfall of one the world's largest and oldest empires and split Rome in half emotionally and politically is amazing.
George MacAuthor - In my opinion this man sacrificed American men, honor and justice for his personal quest of immortality. Although it should be noted MacAuthor planned and succeeded in launching some impressive victories in W.W.II and the Korean War, he also gave America two of our largest defeats in military history. During the occupation of the Philippines, he left 75,000 U.S. soldiers to surrender to the Japanese at Bataan. What followed became known as the Bataan Death March.
Few of the original soldiers captured returned alive, and those that did told of the barbaric torture the Japanese inflicted upon able, wounded and sick men. The second humiliating defeat came during the Korean War. The Chinese, realizing that MacAuthor had more arrogance than foresight let him lead his troops into a monumental ambush. The allies were pushed back hundreds of miles to the South Korean shore and nearly driven off the peninsula. However the most profound mistake MacAuthor made I believe was allowing Emperor Hiroito go without standing trail for leading Japan into W.W.II. After W.W.II MacAuthor was placed in charge of reconstructing Japan. There is no doubt that at this point in his life he was thinking ahead to his next political move......the White House. To get there he needed everything in Japan to go smooth, ensuring him only good publicity to the American public. Fearing the Japanese would riot if he dethroned and punished the Emperor, he let him stay on the thrown, although only as a figurehead. However this act was unjust as the Emperor had full knowledge of Tojo and Yamamoto's plans to bomb Pearl Harbor, he also wanted expand the empire south and authorized the public executions of dozens of captured American pilots. The only reason Hiroito was not charged was so MacAuthor could avoid riots in Japan and therefore open the door for his critics, ending any hope for a bid to the White House.
99% of all modern leaders - I have little respect for the politics that guide modern politicians to the podium. There is a severe and criminal deficit in your leaders efforts to warn of the coming energy crisis because this topic is frightening and will not win votes. As oil production is soon or has already reached its peak, prices for all goods reliant on oil with increase dramatically, this includes nearly everything you depend on in your daily life. The energy required to extricate, transport, refine, package, transport again and then finally distribute is not sustainable and prices for everything (most importantly food) will soon reflect that. Especially negligent is our current administration of which the #1 and #2 are ex-oil men. They have full knowledge of the danger of our over reliance of fossil fuels, yet in an effort to thwart anxiety and remain as pillars in their political affiliations ( Republicans are notorious for their stance on non-conservation ) they preach falsehoods about the state of the global energy supply, which in turn creates a profound false sense of security, ignorance and perpetuates over confidence in the longevity of an unsustainable economy. When the truth is revealed to the mainstream public it will come as a shock when the basic necessities of life (forget modern necessities like hair dryers and TV's) such as flour, grain, rice and fuel are at minimum triple what they are now. Riots are sure to follow as a once over confident public who had to opportunity to initiate change before now feels the consequences of a global society's arrogance and unwillingness to change.
Somewhere lost in you
am I
Sunken beneath your waves
as they tumble down your face
Longing for what is not mine
I wait
But time will only heal these wounds
Which are all I have left
of you
